MACOMB COUNTY, MI – A Macomb County man is facing felony charges for allegedly stealing the identity of a Michigan state representative and using it to open a fraudulent car insurance policy, authorities announced.
Christopher Lost, 24, of Eastpointe, is accused of stealing the identity of Rep. Tyrone Carter, a Democrat representing part of Wayne County. Still suspected of using a computer to open three fake car insurance policies in Carter’s name.
Still charged with three counts of each identity theft, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and up to $ 25,000 in fines; insurance fraud, a felony punishable by up to four years in prison and up to $ 50,000 in fines; and use computers to commit crimes.
Tuesday, Judge Kathleen G. Galen of the 38. District Court sent the case to Macomb County Circuit Court for trial. Still scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court on August 8.
